I met Lanette while taking classes at BYU and very quickly realized that she was a genuinely kind person. Being that we were in many classes together while completing our common major, I got to know Lanette well and work together on group project. I was in the grocery store the first time I met Shaun. He reminded me a lot of Lanette. He radiated happiness. When I first learned Lanette and Shaun were struggling to become pregnant, I couldn’t imagine what they must be going through because I am now chasing around two kids. But Lanette and Shaun, through all of their disappointments, have remained hopeful and genuinely happy. They have turned to each other and to God for courage. As an outside observer, I believe their marriage is stronger because they have dealt with this struggle, always expressing gratitude and faith in God and His plan for their family. I was roommates with Lanette both my freshman and sophomore years in college and I will never forget the way that we bonded almost immediately. Her hugs are so welcoming and her smile so accepting. She has a way of making you feel right at home in her presence. Her friendship over the years has been a great support to me. That support and her cake making skills have seen me through both good and bad times. It was during our sophomore year that Shaun came into the picture. They met while sledding with a group of friends. Not that my approval was necessary, but Shaun definitely fit the bill. I see in him a great example of a dedicated and honest, trustworthy man. This couple is very excited to share the love they have with you and your child. I have known Lanette her whole life, and have always loved her. She is such an amazing person for so many reasons! When I met Shaun, I remember thinking the same thing. They are a wonderful couple, and they truly compliment each other. I was there for their wedding day, and I watched as they made covenants with each other and the Lord. The love and the spirit in that sealing room were so strong! I have watched as they have shown their love for each other through various acts of service, fun dates, and words on their blog. We spent a few days in Shaun and Lanette's home and it is clear they are ready to be parents. They played, fed, and even wanted to change my sons diapers (that says a lot). They both know how to handle children and it is clear that they have wonderful potential to be great parents when they are given the chance. I have never seen a MAN so interested in children before as Shaun is. Most men love to play with children but after that they hand the baby over to mom. Not Shaun, he is up for holding them while they’re crying, wiping their runny nose, and changing their diapers. Lanette definitely has the mothers touch. No one could get my son to stop crying and next thing I knew he was asleep on her chest. It was the most precious sight to see. She is going to make a wonderful mother and Shaun will make an excellent father. They will raise a strong and happy family in righteousness. Carolyn, who grew up with Lanette, said:

Lanette and I have been friends since middle school, and to this day she is still one of the few people I can honestly call a true friend. Their love only seems to grow through the years, and they always treat each other with the love and respect that one would hope all married couples would. Any child brought to their family will learn what it means to love unconditionally in a family, and that is the greatest gift any child can receive. They also absolutely love children. Our son, who is generally shy around new people, has always opened up to them instantly. Starting when he was an infant and he simply fell asleep in Shaun's lap (which I could never get him to do!), to now as a 2-year-old, when he sees them he immediately runs and shows them toys and wants to play with them. He can just feel their happiness and their love for children. And we just love Shaun and Lanette as people. They have so much faith, and it is manifest in every part of their lives. They have been through a lot in the last couple of years, and for many it would cause them to grow apart from each other and from the Lord. Shaun and Lanette have chosen, instead, to use their trials to bring them closer together, and closer to the Lord. And despite their troubles, they are always the ones to think of others--how to serve them, what their needs are, how they are feeling. Shaun and Lanette are so passionate about life, and live it to the fullest. I have met very few people who have the ability to love others as genuinely as they do. Every time we are around Shaun and Lanette, I have been so touched as I have watched them interact with my children and seen the adoration in my girls eyes. My son Eli was born about two months ago, and Shaun and Lanette came to see us in the hospital. They came when most of the family was there and then when it was time for my husband to take our girls home and all of the immediate family was leaving, Shaun and Lanette stayed until 10:45 that night visiting with me because I told them that I don't sleep well away from my family. They stayed even though they had finals to take the next day and a long drive home. It meant so much to me that they put my worry about being alone above anything else they had to do. It was such a tender experience watching these two hold my little son, as they passed him back and forth and would give each other loving and comforting smiles that conveyed hope that they too will get to experience the fulfillment of their righteous desire to have a family of their own. It is a moment I shall never forget, and pray that the time will come that I will get to see with my own eyes these two hold the baby that was meant to come to their family. I met Shaun and Lanette when they were engaged. They asked my husband (Lanette's cousin) and I to take their engagement pictures. At that meeting and every time I've seen them since, Shaun and Lanette have impressed me with how sweet they are to each other and to everyone else. These are two people who are completely in love. Both Shaun and Lanette have very nurturing personalities; they take care of the people around them. I have always known they would be wonderful parents because of their nurturing, loving natures, and also because of the happy and healthy relationship they share with each other. These two are creative, educated, sympathetic, and faithful. I would trust my own children with them any time.
I am so pleased to be related to these lovely people. I pray for their success in life and that they will have the opportunity to love and care for children of their own through adoption. When she married Shaun about four years ago, he was fully adopted into our family. We all love his good character, talents, and sense of humor. One of the many things I love about Lanette and Shaun is that they have fun without being irresponsible or destructive. Their fun is pure creativity and cleverness. I trust Lanette and Shaun completely. When I see them with their daughter, I feel so happy for all three of them. They care so much about protecting and empowering their daughter, and I'm excited for the future they have. They have a wide collection of worthwhile books, music and entertainment. As a married couple, they are able to make wise decisions together, and genuinely want to help others with no reward for themselves. They have, to me been one of the greatest examples of true charity. They have direction in life, value education and are very goal oriented. They constantly rely on faith. Shaun and Lanette are positive people. You can't help but be attracted to their sunshine, it is always a pleasure to be around them. You instantly feel comfortable in their presence. They have a good perspective on life, and are able to give advice or just listen and be a friend. They are honest and are continually trying to better themselves.
