We have both been blessed with wonderful families! Both of us are the oldest children in our families, and both of us have very close and loving relationships with our parents, siblings, and in-laws. Family is vitally important to us, and we are so thankful for the good families we have.
We are also very thankful for our parents. Both Shaun's and Lanette's parents have strong marriages, and we're so grateful that we have such good examples to look up to.
Lanette is the oldest of seven children. She has an "Irish twin" brother, David, who is about 11 months younger than her and goes to BYU; two sisters, Rachel (who just got back from teaching in China), and Karina (who is studying at BYU); and then three more brothers who are still living at home with her parents in Oregon, named Jacob, Jeremy, and Sam. Jacob is a good student, a talented wood-worker, and loves cars. Jeremy is a comedian, and makes everyone laugh. He loves math and football. Sam has a heart of gold, and likes to read, and loves Harry Potter, the Wimpy Kid series, and Narnia. Lanette's dad works as an electrical engineer. Her mom is a homemaker. Lanette also has an extensive extended family, with many uncles, aunts and cousins, and good grandparents. Many of her relatives live in or near Utah, but she has family all around the globe.

Shaun is the oldest of two children. His sister Jennie is just 17 months younger than him, which was really fun for them growing up. She is married and living in Colorado while working an accountant. His parents are still in Colorado as well, and much of his extended family lives there too. Shaun's dad owns his own business, and his mom works for a stamp company. His family is Catholic and loves to spend time together. Shaun knows many of his more distant relatives very well, as well as his closer relatives, and many live in Colorado and get to see each other often.
